What is measure a

Who is behind Measure A

Career politicians on the LA County Board of supervisors put this tax increase on the ballot, not voters! The campaign for Measure A is being run by private corporations that are government contractors who have benefited from hundreds of millions of dollars in lucrative homeless service contracts.
While homelessness has risen each year, so have the excessive executive salaries of the private service contracts. Since 2017 service contractors and builders have received $1.6 billion in funding while homelessness doubled. Many of these service providers have grifted high six figure salaries and created a “Cottage” industry where the top 16 “CEOs” of “community based nonprofit organizations” earn on average $432K a year and spend as much as 87% of their revenue on operations and high salaries, not on helping the homeless!

Why Vote No

Why Vote No

LA County Sales taxes are already among the highest in the nation. The cost of public utilities in California and LA County have nearly doubled in the last ten years. The price of housing is out of control, and Angelinos are struggling to get by.
Yet, career politicians want to DOUBLE the county’s homelessness sales tax and make it permanent.
Now is NOT the time to charge taxpayers another $1 billion a year. It’s time to demand accountability and effective solutions, not just more taxes!
Say no to a billion dollars in sales tax increases, say no to Measure A.

Subject: Stop the Out-of-Touch LA County Board of Supervisors – Vote No on Measure A!
Dear …,
Are you tired of being nickel-and-dimed by out-of-touch politicians? The LA County Board of Supervisors is at it again, voting to DOUBLE the county’s homelessness sales tax to a staggering 1/2 cent, costing you approximately $1,076,076,350!
With LA County sales taxes already among the highest in the nation, working families and small businesses need more money in their pockets, not less!
Worse yet, the current approach to addressing homelessness is not working. Recently the LA Times reported that “homelessness climbed steadily for five years” despite the county’s $600 million budget for the Homelessness Initiative in 2023-2024.
It’s time to demand accountability and effective solutions, not just more taxes! We need better oversight and real results, not just throwing money at the problem.
That’s why I urge every voter to Vote No on Measure A. Join us in saying enough is enough to the LA County Board of Supervisors’ reckless spending and lack of transparency.
Meanwhile, the LA County Board of Supervisors obscures the shortcomings of their service contractors to protect their nearly $300 million in annual budgets—over 80% of which is allocated to salaries and operations rather than services for the unhoused
Together, we can make a difference and ensure that our tax dollars are used effectively to address homelessness.
